Firewise Programs

Forest stewardship and increasing tree canopy is extremely important to the Potomac Watershed.  If managedcorrectly, forests in your backyard and urban tree canopy initiatives can be used to reduce wildfire risk as well. The Firewise Maryland Program of the Maryland DNR Forest Service has targeted the Wildland-Urban Interface as an area where efforts are needed to promote fire awareness and prevention through community outreach and education.
